we've been talking about being a "safe salon" since we started pursuing this dream and it's finally starting to become our reality! you may have noticed our new logo which changed "boutique salon" to "SAFE + SUSTAINABLE salon" (don't worry - you'll still get that same great small boutique salon service you've come to expect). for us it goes much deeper than just changing our logo - it goes down to the very way we do what we do.
over the past few months we took the steps to become a "GREEN CIRCLE CERTIFIED" salon and installed a salon-wide recycling program that collects and reuses all waste streams from hair (that's right - hair!) to product packing, unused chemicals and even foils. we also created a special fund to use for "sustainable initiatives" like our recent switch to LED lighting in the Chicago location. we continue to look for new ways to decrease our impact on the environment like using refillable cups instead of water bottles to making our own cleaning products.
and the biggest change of all - after months of researching, testing and trying we switched product and color lines to Original & Mineral - one of the newest and safest hair care and professional color lines out there. O&M is committed to reducing the chemical load on your hair by replacing harsh chemicals with "natural extracts and active minerals" wherever possible. combined with the amazing organic skin care line we already carry and utilize for aesthetic services, The Organic Pharmacy, we now carry the safest products for your whole self.
we can officially say we are now a "SAFE + SUSTAINABLE" salon that believes in beauty from the inside out and we can't wait for you to come in and experience the changes yourself!
